WHAT DOES THE ECS DO?
The ECS can be divided into three main parts:
Receptors such as CB1 and CB2 (sit on the cells surface looking for changing environments)
Endocannabinoids such as anandamide and 2-AG (made by the body when needed)
Metabolic Enzymes such as FAAH and MAGL (these break down endocannabinoids if they are no longer needed)
Rather than bind to CB1 and CB2 Receptors, CBD activates and influences other non-cannabinoid receptors that effect things like anxiety, sleep, appetite and even pain.
CBD reduces anxiety by changing the shape of the GABA-A receptor in a way that amplifies the natural calming effect of GABA.
CBD Reuptake Inhibitor
CBD delays the reuptake of adenosine (a neurotransmitter) which helps with inflammation and anxiety.
CBD Activates PPARs
CBD also exerts an anti-cancer effect by activating PPARs [peroxisome proliferator activated receptors] that are situated on the surface of the cell’s nucleus.
