What is the “Entourage Effect” and why does whole plant matter?

At this point you may have heard the term “Entourage Effect” but what really is it?

Entourage is used to describe the benefits associated with utilizing the full-spectrum of compounds found in the plant.  This includes THC, CBD, CBN, CBG, CBC as well as terpenes and many others.  There are CBD-only products which utilize CBD itself without the other compounds and many times termed as a “CBD isolate” (or can be made synthetically) . Likewise there are THC-only products such as Marinol which is a prescribed pharmaceutical.

Researchers are finding many synergies from using the whole plant as both cannabinoids and terpenes work together to provide the best results.  If you are looking for a “full-spectrum” solution make sure the company makes this clear and can back it up with Certificates of Analysis.  This is not to say that CBD-only products can’t help but we are finding clear evidence that product from full plant can be more effective.
